Program for Adults

How can we help stand up for those most vulnerable in our society and keep history from repeating itself? Join us for an account of life during the Holocaust and a preview of Anne Frank at this special 50-minute preview event. The Holocaust may have taken place in the 1940s, but stories of those fleeing genocide and tragedy are still happening in our modern day as we discuss in this 50-minute "The Diary of Anne Frank" preview event. Olive Bukuru shares her journey from fleeing genocide in Makamba, living in a refugee camp, and her experience as a teen living in Beaverton and Hillsboro after her family emigrated to the United States. Olive comes to us through a partnership with The Immigrant Story. Audience members are invited to join us immediately following the preview at The Playhouse, Beaverton Civic Theatre's educational space in the Cedar Hills Crossing Mall, to experience the Pacific Northwest premiere of two Anne Frank Exhibits in Beaverton: The Frank Family Album (70 rarely seen photos of the Frank family) and Reading and Writing (an exhibit appropriate for upper elementary students to learn about Anne through her journaling).
