Program for Adults

Join us at Aloha Community Library for a screening of Hearts of the Dulcimer, a feature-length documentary film by Patricia Delich and Wayne Jiang about the 1790s West Coast mountain dulcimer boom and its lasting impact. Through colorful interviews, rare archival footage, and live performances, Hearts of the Dulcimer gives a firsthand account of living life in the counterculture, following one's passion, and playing and building mountain dulcimers.
In addition to the screening, filmmakers Patricia and Wayne will also offer a live demonstration of dulcimer playing. They will be joined by Joellen Lapidus, who made the dulcimer played by Joni Mitchell.
Patricia and Wayne met playing the mountain dulcimer. As avid dulcimer players, they turned their love of the dulcimer into the documentary film. They also produce a podcast with the same name, Hearts of the Dulcimer, which explores the mountain dulcimer's past, present, and future.
**Please note that this is a special after-hours event, and regular library services will not be available after 6pm.**
